Max the Maltese! This adorable, quirky, 6-7 lbs boy is Max. He’s approximately 2 years old. Max is king of the castle and despite his small stature, he has a big personality. He joined MHCR from a high intake shelter in Houston. Max is dog friendly and loves to wrestle and play. He is a very lovable boy and will make someone a perfect companion. Max is a typical small dog that’s large and in charge. He has some limitations with body handling specifically when trying to trim his face, but he uses very appropriate cues to let you know when he’s had enough. He also can be protective of his humans and will need some boundaries in his new home. We recommend an adult only home – this is not because Max has ever had issues with any children, but more because he can be an excitable, mouthy pup that does best with a predictable environment.

My daughter and I have been volunteering with Mile High since its beginning, mostly driving the rescue van to NM to help with transports. We connect with other rescue partners, helping these dogs get to CO and then to foster homes, vet care, and their forever homes. We get to spend time together and feel good about helping the pups.
