Ernie (I've Already Found a Home)

Ernie has the biggest ear-to-ear smile you’ll ever see! This happy guy has much to smile about, too! Ernie entered MHCR as a transfer from a local CO shelter where he found himself unclaimed after his stray hold. Ernie is a little dude, around 20 lbs, and only a year old. The shelter was a horrifying place to him and exhibited what we, in the dog world, call stranger danger. Due to this behavior, he wasn’t an adoptions candidate for them. So, he came to us in hopes a foster home would be just what he needed. Turns out, it was! Ernie take a beat to warm up to new people, but once he does he’s a very loving, sweet, and affectionate guy. He’s good with dogs and likes to play, but he doesn’t love dogs all up in his business right off the bat. He seems very at ease with kiddos, too! Ernie is crate trained and does well on a leash. His favorite thing is snuggling in blankets and playing with them. He loves to run laps and is quite a high jumper (likely competed in the Olympics in a past life). While it has waned, Ernie does still struggle with stranger danger and will do best in a home with patient humans that don’t have a chaotic home with new people in and out. It took him a few days to get used to his foster dad coming and going, but now they’re bffs. He will need a dedicated family that will continue his controlled socialization and acclimation.
