Bonita is a super sweet and spunky 7 lb Jack Russell Terrier/Chihuahua mix. She found herself at a shelter through no fault of her own, but her foster family quickly learned that she is a lot of fun and a pretty easy dog. Now, she’s ready to charm her way into her forever home.
Don’t let Bonita’s senior status fool you. While she may be 13, she has plenty of pep to her step and can even blaze past the younger dogs on walks, which she loves (and she’s happy to accommodate almost any speed). One of her other favorite activities is flopping dramatically into your lap and requesting (okay, politely demanding) belly rubs before curling up and taking a long nap. But if you’re working, she’ll forgo her belly rubs and go straight to snoozing in your lap.
Bonita does well with other dogs, and would likely do well in either a multi-dog home or as your one-and-only pup. She’s also house-trained as long as she’s let out every 5-6 hours during the day – she just isn’t vocal about needing to go outside. This sweet girl is inquisitive but likes to know that her humans are somewhere nearby. When her humans are walking around the house, she frequently likes to play a fun game called “Where’s Bonita?” (Spoiler: she’s standing silently right behind you like your tiny, adorable shadow.)
This little girl can be a bit timid at times, especially with new people, but she’s working on it! She isn’t a fan of being left alone, so a home without shared walls is a must. She also prefers a home without young kids – they just aren’t her jam.
Health-wise, Bonita is doing pretty well. Before going home, she will have a full dental so that she starts her new life with a clean and shiny smile (though she will be missing some teeth). She had 2 benign mammary tumors removed at the shelter, and she has an eye condition called Pannus, which is not painful and is treatable with eye drops. Not bad for a 13 year old!
If you’re looking for a silly, snuggly, and loyal sidekick, Bonita is your girl.
